'Transformers' Star Rosie Huntington-Whitely And The New Class Of Models-Turned-Actresses

If director Michael Bay has his way, audiences will be asking "Megan Fox, who?!" when model-turned-actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley makes her big-screen debut in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" (out today). B.o.B Says Fans Will 'Be Surprised' By His New Album

'You'll definitely see new music this year,' he says at South by Southwest.
By James Montgomery

MTV News' James Montgomery and B.o.B
Photo: MTV News

AUSTIN, Texas — B.o.B's debut disc topped the Billboard albums chart and spawned a pair of smash singles, and, in the process, transformed him from a hotly tipped underground artist to one of the brightest stars in hip-hop.

As he begins work on the follow-up to The Adventures of Bobby Ray, is it possible for him to top that album's success? Even he doesn't know the answer to that question — but he's willing to give it his best shot.

"I would have to parallel my album coming out to losing your virginity," he told MTV News at the South by Southwest festival. "The first time you have sex is way more exciting than the second time. Not that the second time isn't exciting, it's just ... the initial excitement of finally having that first album.

"I think that people will definitely be surprised at the music they hear on the second album," he added. "I don't think they would expect that coming from me."

And while details of the new album are still scarce — switching from sexual metaphors to sports metaphors, B.o.B said he's "just at the end of the first quarter" of the recording process — he's already planning to give fans a taste of his new material very soon.

"There's probably going to be some surprises. There's no telling what the next three quarters will be like," he said. "We should be seeing something very soon. Even if not an album, you'll definitely see new music this year."

And though he might be changing things up for album number two, B.o.B isn't going to stray far from the concept that brought him so much success with Bobby Ray: Specifically, avoiding any and all preconceived notions of what hip-hop should be. Which, in one way, is probably going to make his album feel very much like the first time.

"You should never get comfortable," he said. "I feel like, for me, I embrace everything."

What do you expect B.o.B's next album to sound like? Tell us in the comments!

'True Blood' Rookies Introduce Their New Characters

Vedette Lim, Fiona Shaw, Janina Gavankar and more newbies give us the low-down.
By Kara Warner

For all the "True Blood" fans out there, the wait from the end of one season to the start of a new one can be quite grueling. So much so that HBO employed the Twitter hashtag #waitingsucks in its "True Blood" marketing campaigns — and fans couldn't agree more.

Luckily, the waiting game is about to end with the premiere of the fourth season on HBO this Sunday. MTV News spent some quality time with the cast at the show's premiere earlier this week, where we asked the newest faces of "True Blood" to introduce themselves to fans. Very minor spoilers ahead.

"I play Naomi, I am a good friend of Tara," newcomer Vedette Lim told us. And be advised to take Lim's use of "friend of Tara" loosely. "I'm a cage fighter, clearly," she added, showing off her not-so-intimidating guns.

"I'm a vampire, if you can see the pale skin," said Aaron Perilo, who plays devious Blackburn. "I'm pretty old so I'm very fast. I kind of have an attitude — I don't know if that's a talent. I have a bloodthirsty attitude where I like to get in trouble." Sounds like he'll fit right in then!

Next up is legendary actress Fiona Shaw, whose résumé is too lengthy to list, but many may recognize her from her recent work as Petunia Dursley in the "Harry Potter" film franchise. Shaw plays a very dedicated witch and coven leader Marnie. She's also already a cast favorite. Her work is so convincing that many of her "True Blood" co-stars claimed to be officially obsessed with her.

"Marnie is a witch. She's not a very good witch, but she becomes a very powerful witch as the thing goes on," Shaw explained. "It's been very interesting for me to play someone so out there, so weird, so lonely, so desperate, so isolated. It's been a very big challenge, the lack of vanity to really go there, and I think I have done that."

Three other witches to look out for are Roy, Casey and Antonia, played by Dean Chekvala, Fiona Dourif and Paola Turbay, respectively. Roy and Casey are a part of Marnie's coven, while Antonia is the more mysterious and possibly dangerous presence.

"[Antonia] is a witch from the era of the Inquisition," Turbay revealed. "Her spirit is haunting the vampires, and she's around and she's causing a lot of trouble."

Last but certainly not least is Luna, a new shape-shifter and potential romantic interest for everyone's favorite bar owner Sam Merlotte.

"She is also a schoolteacher by day, shape-shifter by night," Janina Gavankar said of her character. "She is a nice girl with a big old past," added Gavankar, whom you might recognize from other TV roles on "The League" and the short-lived "Traffic Light." "[She] is just trying to do the right thing and be drama-free and keep it together and live a simple life in Bon Temps."

Which new character are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments!

Bad Meets Evil Hookman Was 'Starstruck' By Eminem And Royce

Sly Pyper describes how he overcame his nervousness to sing on 'Fast Lane.'

Singer Sly Pyper has already made quite the name for himself. After lending his vocals to Dr. Dre's first Detox single "Kush," Sly had many fans thinking the Doc had unearthed a recording of the now late Nate Dogg. But now, thanks to Bad Meets Evil's "Fast Lane" video, folks can put a face to the soulful voice. MTV News caught up with Sly on a recent trip to Detroit and got the scoop on how he landed the high-profile feature.

"It's part of the many years I've actually been working with Dr. Dre," Sly said of his involvement on "Fast Lane," the first single off of Eminem and Royce Da 5'9'' 's EP Hell: The Sequel, which dropped on Tuesday (June 14). "Recently, we came out to Detroit, and [Dre] was doing some collabs with Em already. Em had part of a hook that he asked me to come and just lay my vocals on, lay the velvet on. So I got involved, wrote a couple of pieces on the hook as well."

Even after laying the chorus alongside Akon on Dre's "Kush," Sly admits that his nerves started to get the best of him while he was in the studio with Slim Shady. "It was a little nervous at first, I could admit that," he said. "But I kinda felt like I knew them already just from the music. I kinda felt like we were from a similar place, so I let that stand out more than my nervousness about being starstruck. That just won everything over, made it easier for everybody."

Hell: The Sequel reunites Eminem and Royce Da 5'9", who originally recorded together as Bad Meets Evil for Em's Slim Shady LP and for the independent single "Scary Movies" back in 1999. After a rift between the two, Bad Meets Evil seemed like a pipe dream for rap fans. That was until Em went and signed Royce's quartet, Slaughterhouse, to his Shady Records earlier this year. With the fences mended, Royce and Em began working on Hell: The Sequel in a most organic fashion.

"We didn't get together and say, 'Hey, man, let's make a Bad Meets Evil record,' " Em said in a interview with MTV News. It was more so along the lines of us making amends and repairing our issues that we had, and then one day, Bad [Royce] brought a song to me and wanted me to jump on it, and the way it ended up coming out, it was pretty easy to do. It didn't take a lot of time. It was fun to do it. The way we knocked that record out kind of quickly ... it just morphed into this."

Ke$ha Promises 'Lips' Action In 3OH!3's 'My First Kiss' Video

'There are a lot of lips and golden things involved,' she teases to MTV News of new clip.

After collaborating with 3OH!3 on her second single, "Blah Blah Blah," Ke$ha returned the favor, lending her vocals to the duo's "My First Kiss," from their upcoming album, Streets of Gold. In the video for "My First Kiss," recently shot in Los Angeles, Ke$ha makes a cameo, and she told MTV News to expect, yes, a lot of kissing.

"Oh, my gosh! ... It's really fun! There are a lot of lips and golden things involved," she teased during KIIS-FM's annual Wango Tango festival at L.A.'s Staples Center on Saturday.

"Those guys are really fun, and I feel like we share a lot of the same mentality when it comes to our music and our life and having fun and being sarcastic and ironic and throwing dance parties," Ke$ha said.

The Nashville native explained that she and the guys, Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte, are actually pals; working together again was a natural progression.

"They're so funny and such good writers and really, really good guys," the "Tik Tok" singer said. "Not just friends in the business, like, we're proper friends now because they're just good people."

3OH!3 recently revealed their "Kiss" clip would be heavy on lip-locking. "Honestly, there is a lot of kissing, there's a lot of lips," Foreman told MTV News on the set of the video. "I think we all have mono after today, so we're all going to get tested. We probably should've been tested before," he laughed.

What do you think of Ke$ha's recent videos? Let us know in the comments!

Evanescence's New Album 'All Over The Place,' Amy Lee Says

Follow-up to The Open Door, due October 4, 'smacks you right in the face,' singer says.
By James Montgomery

Evanescence's Amy Lee
Photo: Getty Images

Amy Lee is having a hard time talking about Evanescence's upcoming album, partially because she's out of practice — it's been a while since the band's frontwoman has had to run the press gauntlet, after all — but mostly because she keeps using words like "fun" to describe it. And even she realizes how odd that seems.

"I can't give a good quote about it, because it's probably the heaviest record we've ever done, but we're having a great time making it," the singer said, laughing. "I don't want to say the word 'fun,' but it is ... it's totally fun. We're just going for it. So I don't want to say that it's 'expressing the pain of a thousand sorrows,' because it's not that. I mean, it's just more mature; it's just a great record. It's hard to sum it up."

Of course, she's quick to add that "fun" doesn't necessarily mean "silly or poppy." "It doesn't translate right ... I'm having fun; we're all having fun," she explained, "And there are moments where you can hear that."

But Lee will be the first one to admit that, when Evanescence return in October with their first album in five years, they'll be a very different beast indeed. Case in point: the first single, which, though she won't reveal the title, is one she feels comfortable describing as a definite departure for the band.

"It's really different for us. It doesn't sound like any Evanescence track you've heard before," she said. "It's heavy, but the melodies and stuff, I feel like I just did what I wanted. I just literally sang what I wanted to sing, because it was fun and it kind of made me smile, and that ended up being the really fun, cool, catchy thing that got everybody hooked on it."

And though it's different, Lee knows that there's plenty riding on the band's comeback single, which is why, even if she was smiling when she recorded it, the song's still got plenty of the band's trademark growl, too. And the same goes for the album.

"You always have to think about that. We have to go through making the decisions with the label, and see what they're going to push," she explained. "We don't get to do whatever we want all the time, so the single has to sound like a hit. But, for us, we want more than that.

"There's a lot I want to get across all at once, before I lose anybody's attention. So, the song that I think is the first single is the song that wraps it all up. It's got a cool meaning, a lot of great lyrics going on, it also just smacks you right in the face and it's heavy and it's great ... I think that there's a couple songs that meet that same criteria."

To that end, though she (accidentally) uses words like "fun" to describe it, the new Evanescence album might just be the next logical step for the band: The same themes are there, but for the first time in her career, Lee is writing about them (and herself) in new ways. At the end of the day, as has always been the case, catharsis is key.

"There are themes of brokenness, the quest for freedom, and then there's songs that are just about falling in love ... it's just all over the place," she said, laughing. "There's this beautiful song that — it's definitely going to make the album, or I will kill someone — it's not like a single or anything, it's just this epic album track that's about loss from the perspective of someone losing someone in a tragedy, and it's really cool to listen back to that, too.

"That's not something I did on The Open Door. The Open Door was all about me and my personal experiences. And there's some moments on this one that are actually taken from things that I watched go down, from my friends and stuff like that. But really, whatever makes me feel the most, that's what's on the record, because that's what I need to get off my chest."

Are you excited for the new Evanescence album? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

'Bad Teacher' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

Before signing up for Cameron Diaz's class, study up with our fun facts.
By Eric Ditzian

Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake in "Bad Teacher"
Photo: Sony

It's been more than a month since "Bridesmaids" slayed us at the cinema. We're desperately in need of some hard-R laughs, a few gross-out moments that make us cringe, and the reminder that as crazy as we might be, we're not nearly as loco as the folks we're watching onscreen.

Thus, we say thanks to "Bad Teacher" as it floats, on a comedic cloud of profanity and penis jokes, into theaters. Cameron Diaz stars as Elizabeth Halsey, an educator less concerned with math lessons than she is in smoking pot and calculating her way into marriage with any filthy-rich doofus. She meets the perfect mark in Justin Timberlake's Scott Delacorte, a substitute teacher and a guy so freaking nice there's got be something wrong with him. And then we have Jason Segel's sly gym teacher; even though he's got the hots for Halsey, his paycheck doesn't have nearly enough digits to entice the leggy blonde.

But all this is just the setup. The punch comes in a series of outlandish events that, if we were to reveal them here, would just spoil the fun. What we can do is tell you everything you need to know about "Bad Teacher" before hitting the multiplex this weekend. That's where our cheat sheet comes into play.

Getting Ready for Class
News of the film, penned by "Office" scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, broke in December of 2009. Diaz had signed on, but the rest of the cast had yet to be filled out. That changed a few months later, when Timberlake and Segel hopped aboard. Though Diaz had formerly dated JT, the actress had no qualms about stepping in front of the camera with him.

"He's the best person for the job. He's going to be hilarious," she said. "He's clearly a very talented comedian; look at his 'Saturday Night Live' [skits]. He's fantastic. He's going to be so great."

School's in Session
Filming kicked off in March. Nearly a year later, a truly filthy red-band trailer popped up online, giving us a very clear idea of how truly terrible a teacher Diaz would be: "Are you f---ing kidding me?" she writes on a student's test.

While the comedy's raunchiness was no surprise, Timberlake's weirdo of a sub certainly was. As Diaz later explained to us, "He gives us a character that you have not seen yet before — not just him, but pretty much anyone. It's just a very interesting character and a lot of fun to watch. By the end of it, you're like, 'What is up with that dude?' It's hilarious."

The Final Exam
As part of our Summer Movie Preview Week, we debuted an exclusive photo of Diaz getting ready for a fundraising car wash unlike any that you might recall from your school days and also sat down for a chat with the woman herself.

"She's miserable. She's not happy with her world, and she doesn't pretend that she is," Diaz said of her character. "Her pain is real. She's living a very painful existence, so there's no humor to her in this."

Sure, she's a woman in pain. But there's also something liberating about the way she just doesn't give a hoot about anything. "I think that's why people love Elizabeth," Diaz told us at the film's premiere in New York City. "It's because everyone wants to be her, even for an hour, maybe a day. If you get away with a week — oh my gosh! I got to play her for six weeks. So yeah, it was a lot of fun."

"The first 30 pages, I'm like, 'I am not playing this. There is no way I can play this character. There [are] no redeeming qualities to this character,' " she recalled of the script in an earlier chat. "And by the end of it, I'm like, 'Oh my God, this is genius! There's no redeeming qualities to this character!' We got to the end of the script, and we're not apologizing for anything she said. It's a very modest arc."

Check out everything we've got on "Bad Teacher."

Bonnaroo's Best Bets: 10 Acts To See At The Fest!

Eminem and Lil Wayne top the bill, but there are plenty of other worthy bands to see.
By James Montgomery

Eminem
Photo: John Shearer/ WireImage

If, for some reason, you weren't aware of it by now (perhaps you don't read Relix magazine on the regular?), the 10th annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival kicks off Thursday (June 9) in its spiritual home of Manchester, Tennessee, bringing with it tens of thousands of voracious music fans, a whole lot of creatively griddled arepas and some seriously wasted Wookies, too.

And while some say this year's lineup — topped by the likes of Eminem, Lil Wayne and Arcade Fire — strays too far from Bonnaroo's generally crunchy roots (you know, aside from bands like Widespread Panic, My Morning Jacket and the String Cheese Incident), the true beauty of Bonnaroo has always been in its ability to provide something for everyone, even if that something is "watching basketball in an air-conditioned theater" (yes, Game 5 of the NBA Finals will be shown).

That's especially true of this year's bill, too, which is teeming with talent. And so, as we prepare to head down to this year's 'Roo, we've decided to put together a list of 10 must-see acts, our favorite bands on the bill not named Eminem or Lil Wayne. Because the headliners get all the love (and everyone's going to check them out anyway) — it's time to let someone else shine.

Best Coast
When? Thursday, 7:15 p.m., the Other Tent
Why? Their Crazy for You was one of 2010's best surprises: a hazy, lazy collection of lo-fi surf rock that also managed to capture classic California pop hooks. Most of the credit is due to frontwoman/mastermind Bethany Cosentino, who, in addition to being a cat obsessive (always a plus in our book), wrote the tunes and possesses a preternatural pop sensibility. Did we also mention she's best pals with Hayley Williams?

Dam-Funk & Master Blaster
When? Thursday, 1 a.m., This Tent
Why? Dusty, lusty, loced-out electro courtesy of Damon Riddick, California's self-proclaimed "Ambassador of Boogie Funk." Steeped in the hazy traditions of West Coast G-funk (and the smoove sonics of groups like Shalamar), Riddick's at his best when the lights are down low, which makes his 1 a.m. Bonnaroo set all the better. As a bonus, he's backed up by his cracking live band, Master Blaster. Yet another reason why sleep is overrated.

Wanda Jackson
When? Friday, 5:45 p.m., the Other Tent
Why? Why not? She's the Queen of Rockabilly, a legend who's been making music for more than 50 years now, scoring no-nonsense country, pop and gospel hits along the way. And she's showing no signs of slowing down, either. In January, she released The Party Ain't Over, a whip-smart collection of roiling rockabilly produced by none other than Jack White. Oh, and she once dated Elvis Presley. Swag.

Florence and the Machine
When? Friday, 6:45 p.m., This Tent
Why? By now, you know who she is. And you've probably downloaded her album. But if you haven't gotten the chance to see Ms. Welch (and her Machine) live, well then, there's probably no better place to do so than at a giant summer festival. No matter how big the stage, there's an intimacy to the most minimal moments of her set, and when Flo powers up her formidable pipes (like on "Dog Days Are Over" or "You've Got the Love"), the outpouring of joy is practically too huge to be contained. So, yes, it will sound pretty excellent in a gigantic field. On drugs.

Big Boi
When? Friday, 12:45 a.m., the Other Tent
Why? Dude, it's Big Boi. Not only is he Southern rap royalty, but his 2010 album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was one of the year's best, full of wacked-out funk ("Shutterbugg") and wide-screen weirdness ("General Patton"), cameos by everyone from Yelawolf to George Clinton and enough trunk-rattling funk to fill three Outkast albums. And live, he more than matches its sonic wallop, getting soulful, silly and downright stanky.

Portugal. The Man
When? Saturday, 5 p.m., That Tent
Why? Their upcoming major-label bow, In the Mountain in the Cloud (due July 19), is one of the year's best rock efforts, brimming with angst, atmosphere and angular, indie-leaning guitars (for a taste, check out the 13-minute short film they just premiered on IFC). You'll be reading much more about them in the months to come, so why not check them out at Bonnaroo? You will hold supreme bragging rights over all your friends. Trust us.

My Morning Jacket
When? Saturday, 8 p.m., What Stage
Why? Yeah, we know, they're not exactly up-and-comers, but if you consider yourself a music fan, then you owe it to yourself to experience MMJ at Bonnaroo at least once in your lifetime. Over the years, they've seemingly harnessed the vibes of the fest to produce some downright epic shows, including a near four-hour marathon gig in 2008 that's become a thing of taper lore. As a bonus, their brand-new Circuital album totally rips.

Dr. John with the Original Meters and Allen Toussaint
When? Saturday, 12:30 a.m., That Tent
Why? The kind of once-in-a-lifetime show that Bonnaroo has become famous for over the years, it's a trio of New Orleans legends performing the Good Doctor's classic 1974 Desitively Bonnaroo album in its entirety. And yes, that's the inspiration for the fest's name. Combine all that with a slightly magical after-midnight set time (which, as anyone who caught Dr. John's "Night Tripper" show at Bonnaroo 2006 can attest to, genuinely means something), and you've got the makings of a truly epic experience.

The Mardi Gras Parade
When? Saturday, 2:15 a.m., the campgrounds
Why? An annual Bonnaroo tradition, featuring floats, bands and all manner of debauchery. The official word from the fest is that it won't be happening this year, but we've heard the opposite from a few sources. We hope the latter is true, since it's one of the highlights each year. Guess you'll just have to show up and see...

Robyn
When? Sunday, 4:30 p.m., the Other Tent
Why? No offense to any of her contemporaries, but for our money, Robyn is the best pop star on the planet, a hard-working, genre-busting force responsible for some of the most memorable electro-tunes in recent memory (and three of the best albums of 2010, too). Live, the bittersweet Swede harnesses all that hustle for a show that's sweaty, sexy and, above all, uplifting. Not to be missed.

Pottermore: Our Top-Five Wish List For J.K. Rowling's New Site

'Harry Potter' author's site is still cloaked in mystery, but there are a few things we'd like to see on her Web creation.
By Kara Warner

There's a lot of "Harry Potter"-related excitement going around these days, what with the release of the eighth and final film, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" in just a few weeks, and our own Harry Potter World Cup heating up. And on Thursday morning (June 23) in London, "Potter" creator J.K. Rowling made an official announcement about the mysterious "Pottermore" project she introduced last week.

Pottermore.com will deliver a free, online reading experience including, according to a press release, "extensive new material about the characters, places and objects in the much-loved stories" and a digital capability in which "the storyline will be brought to life with sumptuous newly commissioned illustrations and interactive 'Moments' through which you can navigate."

"[It's] a way I can be creative in a medium that didn't exist when I started the books back in 1990," Rowling told reporters during the press conference.

Vote in the Harry Potter World Cup here!

That's exciting stuff for "Potter" fans, considering the books have long since been completed and the final film hits theaters this summer. But at this point, with no Muggle having yet explored the site, we don't know exactly what Pottermore will offer. Here are five things we hope we can see and do while playing in Rowling's latest fantastical creation — now or in the future.

Open Class/Character Development System

No matter your house, heritage or O.W.L. scores, with the appropriate amount of training or playing time, you too can become an esteemed member of the wizarding community. No matter how basic or inexperienced you are when you begin exploring "Pottermore," there should be opportunities for advancement and/or shifting skill sets. If you want to be an animagus, an auror, a healer, or even a professional Quidditch player, you need only put in the time.

Quidditch

Speaking of professional Quidditch players, there ought to be a recreational area in "Pottermore" where characters learn, play and eventually compete against one another at the hugely popular game. Instead of pitting competitors and teams against one another based solely on their houses, it would be great for players to be able to assemble themselves into teams.

Virtual Place to Unwind, Be Entertained

One of the main reasons Rowling's masterworks have so many millions of fans is because she's created a world so magical and alluring that we all dream of apparating into the Three Broomsticks for a butterbeer or taking a walk through Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. It would be great if Pottermore featured a competition-free area for socializing in and around virtual versions of Rowling's most beloved fictional shops and assorted hotspots.

Annual "Pottermore" Gatherings

Although Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter is currently a perfect place to mix and mingle with fellow Potterphiles, we would love an annual event in the vein of GenCon or Comic-Con, where fans from all over the world meet to share in everything Harry Potter. In addition to pointed panel discussions on a variety of subjects, why not also host a few live action duels in the spirit of the tri-wizard tournament? Maybe an attempt at a grounded game of Quidditch or two?

Special Guest Stars And/Or Participants

It's nearly impossible to assemble the entire "Harry Potter" film casts for "Pottermore" participation, but perhaps before they all move on from their Potter associations, the actors can record special interactive greetings and messages, to be carefully placed throughout "Pottermore"? Maybe Daniel Radcliffe and company can pre-record video messages of encouragement for players? Alan Rickman could instruct a brief beginner-level Defense Against the Dark Arts Class? We'll even settle for video clips from the movies popping up every now and again. Also, if Rowling is taking the time to make this special announcement, we're hoping she's going to stay involved enough that she'll consider recording some messages as well.

So what did we miss? What do you want from Pottermore? Tell us in the comments!

Wiz Khalifa, Ice Cube, Lupe Fiasco Mix It Up At L.A.'s Powerhouse

50 Cent, Trey Songz, Snoop Dogg surprise fans at Power 106 show, which also featured Big Sean, Jeremih, LMFAO, the Rej3ctz and T-Pain.

LOS ANGELES — Radio station Power 106 held their annual sold-out Powerhouse concert at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on Saturday night, bringing together multiple generations of hip-hop stars, from West Coast OG Ice Cube to L.A.'s latest dance-craze instigators the Rej3ctz to a chart-topping visitor from out east, Wiz Khalifa.

The Rej3ctz opened the show with a high-energy performance and later danced onstage with the very colorful LMFAO as they performed "Shots." Sporting a white T-shirt and bright yellow cargo shorts, T-Pain took it up a couple notches with a string of his hits and left fans fully charged with DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win."

The evening had a couple of surprises on deck: 50 Cent joined Jeremih on their collabo "Down on Me," which Jeremih said was the first time they've ever performed the song together in concert. Compton's own DJ Quik gave loyal fans what they came for, and when Lupe Fiasco pulled young crooner Trey Songz onstage during his set, screaming concertgoers raised the decibels to new heights.

The Don Mega himself, Ice Cube, brought out his old N.W.A bandmate MC Ren on the song "Hello."

"It makes you feel good, being in the game as long as I have," Ice Cube told MTV News before the show. "I done went from new school to old school and still here. You can't do nothing but be humbled by the fact that so many rappers is gone. ... I'm still here after all this time."

Cube was also the most-anticipated act of the evening by fellow performers including the headliner, Wiz Khalifa.

"This is my first time performing at Powerhouse, my first time performing at an event this big, so I feel elated," Wiz told MTV News before his set. "I'm really excited about seeing Cube."

But Khalifa had another trick up his sleeve when it came to honoring L.A.'s hip-hop roots: He brought out his "High School" co-star Snoop Dogg for one last Powerhouse surprise, no doubt leaving 18,000 fans feeling like they got their money's worth.

Harry Potter, Severus Snape Soar In Early World Cup Voting

Hermione Granger is also dominating in the first round of the MTV News tournament.
By Eric Ditzian

Don't pooh-pooh Filius Flitwick! That's just one of the lessons coming into focus little more than 24 hours into the epic showdown we call the "Harry Potter" World Cup.

Though the diminutive master of Charms nabbed just a 10 seed in our monthlong tournament, in which fans have been voting online to choose the greatest character in the fantasy franchise, Professor Flitwick has raced out to a commanding first-round lead over his fellow Hogwarts colleague, and number-seven seed, Sybill Trelawney. But voting in the initial round doesn't close until midnight on Monday, meaning there's more than enough time for Trelawney fans to divine a whole lot of votes in her honor.

Other contests seem less prone to an upset. Honestly, what are the chances Harry Potter himself, facing off against Dark Arts devotee Quirinus Quirrell, gets an unexpected first-round ouster from the World Cup? As of this writing, the boy wizard has wrangled more than 95 percent of the vote. His pal Hermione Granger, meanwhile, has garnered more than 98 percent of the vote in her battle with often-salacious journalist Rita Skeeter.

See photos of all of the "Potter" World Cup players.

But that was all to be expected. Early voting has also shown us some characters that could become Cinderella stories. Dobby the House Elf, the adorable rascal who made the ultimate sacrifice to save Harry and company, shot out to a maybe-we-should-call-it-now lead over Gryffindor half-blood Dean Thomas. Maybe now it's time for Dobby, who's always been the servant until now, to lead a fan-supported charge. Yet the floppy-eared elf could well run up against Severus Snape, who himself is dominating a first-round matchup with Death Eater spawn Vincent Crabbe, in the Sweet 16.

Snape, as "Potter" buffs know, has one of the most complex and satisfying character arcs in the entire series. Only Dobby, we presume, stands between him and an Elite Eight showdown with Harry. That's the main action in the Privet Drive quadrant of the bracket. Over in Godric's Hollow, while Hermione is busy wiping the floor with Rita, the phoenix Fawkes is straight up embarrassing poor Nearly Headless Nick. But voting in Albus Dumbledore's game hasn't even started. If you ask us, anyone who thinks someone like Dark Arts defender Remus Lupin is going to stand in the way of a Hermione vs. Dumbledore Elite Eight face off is crazy.

See the full bracket and vote!

Things haven't even gotten started on the other side of the bracket. There's a whole lot of Weasley brawling going on in the Hogsmeade section, not only with Ron securing the top seed but with Arthur cruelly conjuring up a war with his son Percy. But all that may become background noise once Cedric Diggory (memorably, if briefly, portrayed onscreen by one Robert Pattinson) gets in on the action. Even Ron Weasley, he who won the heart of Hermione, might not be able to take down the "Twilight" heartthrob. Voting kicks off Wednesday.

And then in Diagon Alley, we find perhaps the tournament's most competitive corner. Count 'em off: Lord Voldemort, Draco Malfoy (whose Tom Felton has collected two straight MTV Movie Award Best Villain wins), Sirius Black and his murderer, Bellatrix Lestrange. About the only thing we can predict at this point is that Lord V is going to freaking destroy Moaning Myrtle, who might need a new nickname soon. Voting in these matches begins on Thursday.

Who is the best "Harry Potter" character of all time? The "Harry Potter" World Cup will find out! Voting is going on now over on the MTV Movies Blog, and you can also get the debate going on Twitter with the hashtag #mtvpottercup.

B.o.B Goes After Tyler, The Creator In 'No Future'

Bobby Ray's track comes in response to Odd Future MC's 'Yonkers' dig.
By Jayson Rodriguez

Photo: Frank Mullen

Not everyone is amused by the antics of Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator.

B.o.B took aim at the upstart on Friday (March 25) with a fiery dis track titled "No Future," a response to a line the California rapper issued on his breakout "Yonkers." "What you think of Hayley Williams?/ F--- her, Wolf Haley robbing 'em," Tyler raps on the song. "I'll crash that f---ing airplane that that f----t n---a B.o.B is in/ And stab Bruno Mars in his goddamn esophagus."

The line is characteristic of Tyler and his crew's shocking rhymes; the collective are, in part, inspired by Eminem and works like his Relapse album with its slew of serial-killer references.

The "Airplanes" star, however, isn't a fan.

"If I was you I would be a little more cautious," Bobby Ray raps on "No Future." "I'm way too high for you to look at/ The future ain't looking promising for these rookies/ This is target practice but I don't even pull the f---ing trigger anymore, 'cause it's just a waste of bullets/ Come and get this pu---, wipe them off the floor/ I'm guessing they was hoping for some different results/ I'm guessing they was guessing 'cause they wasn't really sure/ But f--- it, I guess I'mma have to let these n----s know.

"Keep f---ing with me, you ain't gon have no future," he concludes.

Tyler responded via Twitter. Perhaps taking the high road after driving too close to the edge, the 20-year-old wrote that he didn't think "No Future" was a dis track. He even gave B.o.B props on the rhyme.

"Whoa," he wrote in his first message. "I don't think the 'No Future' song is even a diss. But I've never heard him spit like that. Took me by surprise, cus it's tight."

A second message took a swipe at producer Alex Da Kid over "Airplanes" and "Love the Way You Lie" sounding too similar.

What do you think of B.o.B's response to the "Yonkers" track? Sound off in the comments!
